The Reason

The social work perspective/identity is extremely important in the multidisciplinary field of University and College Counseling Centers (UCCC). The foundation of social work training and identity (systems perspective, advocacy, clinical skills, multicultural training, community organizing, etc) is critical and valued within the UCCC mission. This is why we have to organize and improve our education/training of social workers who find their passion as UCCC professionals. We have to equip them with the resources and knowledge to be more competitive for available counseling center positions. This level of training can only be found through coming together to share resources, best practices, connection, support, and inspiration. Coming together happens in a variety of forms including an email listserv, mentorship program, ongoing professional development opportunities, or an annual Summit.
